Ukraine’s PGO raids Ukrenergo HQ

The Kyiv-based headquarters of the state-owned company, Ukrenergo, which is an operator of the country’s united power grid, has been raided by operatives of the Prosecutor General’s Office on Wednesday, according to Mykhailo Bno-Ayriyan, director for communications and international cooperation at Ukrenergo.

According to the company official, employees have been instructed by law enforcers to keep off the company premises.

The house of the company’s acting chief, Vsevolod Kovalchuk, is also being searched, which Mr Kovalchuk confirmed via Facebook.

Ukrenergo press service in its comment said that the situation remained tense.

"Yesterday we told everyone that we managed to save about UAH 6.7 billion for the country, which had earlier just disappear in the bowels of our massive enterprise. And in the morning the next day, the Prosecutor General's Office came to us with searches. Apparently, they are looking for evidence of our victory. People are not allowed to their workplaces, the situation is extremely tense. We will keep you informed of the course of events," the comment reads.
