Chinese company may build wind farm in Mykolaiv region

Chinese-based TBEA International Ltd is mulling the construction of a 500 MW wind power station in Mykolayiv region, the Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Ministry's press service reported following the working meeting with TBEA's officials.

"During the meeting, we have discussed a number of issues related to the implementation of the project for the construction of a 500 MW wind farm in Mykolaiv region," the reports said.

The company's envoys expressed their interest in a number of projects, outlined their main advantages, and noted that the pilot project in Ukraine had already passed the feasibility study, having received a positive conclusion, including about assessment of the environmental impact.

TBEA is a leading manufacturer of modern power equipment, the press service emphasized.

Read alsoChinese company to build 'green' power station in Lviv regionAs UNIAN reported earlier, on October 1, 2014, Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers approved the national renewable energy action plan until 2020, which provides for an increased share of renewables in the total electricity generation balance from 6-8% (today's figure) to 11%.

The main incentive of such energy generation in Ukraine is the so-called "green" tariff, that is higher prices for electricity produced with the use of renewables.

According to the ministry, alternative sources accounted for 8.9% (including large HPPs and PSPPs) of the total electricity production over five months of 2017.
