Energoatom boosts revenue from electricity sales by 25% in H1

State-run enterprise Energoatom, the operator of Ukrainian-based nuclear power plants, increased its revenue from electricity sales by 25% in January-June 2017 (H1), to UAH 24.543 billion, or US$945 million, according to the company's report.

Payments of the wholesale electricity market for energy supplied by Energoatom in the six months of 2017 amounted to UAH 21.140 billion (86.1%), or $814 million, while debts on electricity bills were estimated at UAH 3.403 billion, or $131 million.

The debt of the state-owned enterprise Energomarket, the operator of Ukraine's wholesale electricity market, before Energoatom totaled UAH 13.334 billion, or $514 million, taking into account the electricity sold in previous periods, the report said.

Energoatom's share in the Ukrainian electricity market was 59.9% over the period under review.

UNIAN memo. Energoatom is Ukraine's largest electricity producer, accounting for about 50% of the country's overall power output. Energoatom is responsible for the safe operation of the country's nuclear power plants.

Ukraine ranks seventh globally in terms of the installed capacity of its nuclear power generating units. Energoatom operates four nuclear power plants across Ukraine with a total of 15 power generating units, all with VVER-type reactors. Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, operating six power units with a total capacity of 6 GW, is Europe's largest.
