PM Groysman says average salary in Ukraine exceeds $270

Ukraine's Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman has announced at a government meeting that the average salary in Ukraine exceeds UAH 7,000, or US$270, as of July 19.

According to official data for January-May 2017, the minimum salary rose by 37%, to UAH 6,494, or $250. However, taking into account the figures of June and July, it exceeded UAH 7,000.

"Given [the data of] June and July, the country's average salary is over UAH 7,000," Groysman said.

The prime minister earlier projected that the average salary in Ukraine in 2017 would reach UAH 7,000, while it would be UAH 10,000, or $386, in the medium term.

The average nominal salary of a full-time employee in Ukraine was UAH 6,840, or $264, in May 2017, which was 2.7% up from April 2017 and 37.2% up y-o-y. This value exceeds by 2.1 times the minimum wage in Ukraine, which is UAH 3,200, or $123.

Ukrainian's Social Policy Minister Andriy Reva forecast earlier that the average salary would grow by 37% by the end of 2017, to UAH 7,100, or $274.
