Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers has endorsed a bill to put a new operator of the Ukrainian gas transport system (GTS), PJSC Trunk Gas Pipelines of Ukraine, on the list of state-owned assets that are not subject to privatization, according to the Cabinet's press service.
"At a meeting on July 19, 2017, the government endorsed a bill amending the law of Ukraine on the list of state-owned facilities that are not subject to privatization," the report said.
The bill is aimed at ensuring proper identification of PJSC Trunk Gas Pipelines of Ukraine as a facility that cannot be put up for sale.
Read alsoRussian gas transit via Ukraine deterrent against Moscow’s aggression - NaftogazAs UNIAN reported, the Ukrainian government in 2015 initiated the reform of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine to fulfill the requirements of the Third Energy Package of the European Energy Community, which assumes differentiation of functions of extraction, transportation, and supply of energy resources to end consumers.
As part of this reform, on November 9, 2016, Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers decided to create a new company, the GTS operator, PJSC Trunk Gas Pipelines of Ukraine.
