Poroshenko signs law on energy efficiency fund

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has signed the Energy Efficiency Fund bill into law, according to an UNIAN correspondent.

He signed the document at Kyiv Polytechnic Institute (KPI) National Technical University of Ukraine on July 20.

"It is very important that we are creating the fund now, although [the need for] its creation was absolutely clear decades ago... I am confident we will have practical results of our joint activity in the near future," he told the public.

The document determines basic energy-efficient measures for buildings.

As UNIAN reported, a draft law on the establishment of the Energy Efficiency Fund, which provides for the creation of an organizational structure for the effective use of funds for thermal and energy modernization of residential buildings, passed its second reading in parliament on June 8.

Later, on June 22, the Verkhovna Rada adopted bill No. 4941-d on energy efficiency of buildings in its second reading. It will introduce a mandatory energy efficiency audit of buildings.
