According to the president, to motivate energy efficiency there are two sources of funding. “After the amendments submitted to Parliament, not UAH 47 bln but UAH 61 bln are spent for subsidies annually, and we don’t know whether people are motivated to save heat,” Petro Poroshenko said. That is why it was offered to monetize subsidies.

“If people saved heat, part of these funds must be allocated to them. This is called monetization. And these funds should be allocated including for the improvement of energy consumption in the future,” the head of state noted.

The second source of funding is cooperation with foreign partners. The Head of State noted that today, in compliance with the mechanisms of the fund of consumption and energy saving, partners from Germany are allocating up to EUR 100 million. To ensure the efficient use of funds, an international financial corporation that will enter the monitoring council of the fund will carry out an audit.
