"The Ukrainian side insists that Ukraine acts in accordance with its obligations under the WTO. Ukraine's position is based on clear legal arguments and is backed by the provisions of international agreements, as well as decisions, numerous acts and statements of the international community," Mykolska wrote on Facebook.

At the same time, she referred to confidentiality of the consultations.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on May 19, 2017, Ukraine received an official request from Russia for WTO dispute consultations regarding the "permanent practice of restrictions on trade," as stated by the Russian Federation.

In late May, Russia announced its intention to lodge a lawsuit with the WTO against Ukraine in connection with the "trade and transit restrictions," although earlier it had been the Russian Federation that unilaterally unleashed a trade war, closing transit routes for Ukrainian goods and imposing trade sanctions.

Over the past two years, Ukraine has lodged with the WTO appeals against restrictions imposed by the Russian Federation on the import of railway rolling stock, sets of points and other railway equipment originated from Ukraine. It also appealed against limitations on transit shipments from Ukraine to third countries through Russia's territory.
