Coal production in Ukraine down by 3% since year-start

The extraction of energy and coking coal in Ukraine in January-June 2017 decreased by 2.9% compared to the same period last year, to 18.4 million tonnes, the press service of the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry.

According to the report, 2.37 million tonnes of the total volume of coal was extracted at state-owned mines, where the overall coal production for the said period fell by 21.6%.

In June, 2.6 million tonnes of coal was mined, of which 0.36 million tonnes was extracted at state-owned mines.

In 2016, production increased by 2.8%, to 40.864 million tonnes.
