2nd batch of anthracite coal from RSA delivered to Ukraine

Ukraine's largest private energy holding DTEK has received 75,000 tonnes of deficient anthracite coal delivered by a cargo ship to the port of Yuzhny near Odesa, according to the company's press service.

"Today [July 23] at 8:25 the second bulk carrier with 75,000 tonnes of anthracite from South Africa called at the port of Yuzhny ... The vessel is currently being unloaded. The work is expected to be completed within three to four days," the press service said in a statement.

As reported, the coal is intended for Prydniprovska and Kryvyi Rih thermal power plants, where fuel reserves as of July 23 were estimated at 110,000 tonnes and 90,000 tonnes respectively.

To ensure stable operation of its anthracite-fed thermal power plants, DTEK decided to supply coal from the mines of Russia's Rostov region, as well as signed a contract for coal supplies from South Africa to the tune of more than 600,000 tonnes with the possibility to increase the volume up to 1 million tonnes. DTEK received its first shipment at the port of Yuzhny on May 25.
