Energoatom's net profit from electricity sales grows by almost 46% in 1H 2017

State-run enterprise Energoatom, the operator of Ukrainian-based nuclear power plants, received UAH 1.629 billion, or US$63 million in net profit, in January-June 2017 (1H), which was 45.7% up year-over-year (y-o-y), according to the company's report.

Energoatom's net revenue from electricity sales increased by 24.9% in 1H 2017 y-o-y, from UAH 16.429 billion ($636 million) to UAH 20.521 billion ($794 million), the report said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Energoatom reduced its net profit by 77.8% in 2016, to UAH 187 million ($7.2 million).

Ukraine ranks seventh globally in terms of the installed capacity of its nuclear power generating units. Energoatom operates four nuclear power plants across Ukraine with a total of 15 power generating units, all with VVER-type reactors. Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, operating six power units with a total capacity of 6 GW, is Europe's largest.
