Another major gas player to enter Ukraine market

The National Energy and Utilities Regulations Commission (NEURC) intends to grant a gas supplier license to the Ukrainian subsidiary of the French-based Engie, according to the agenda of the meeting on August 1, OilNews reported.

Engie Energy Management Ukraine LLC was established in Kyiv in August 2016. A total of 99% of the authorized capital belongs to GDF International, while 1% is owned by JSC Sopranor (both registered in France). Company CEO is Olha Zhukovska, OilNews reports.

France-based Engie is one of the largest suppliers of gas to Ukraine.

Earlier, similar licenses were received by international companies MET Holding and Trafigura.

According to the law, from July 1, PJSC Ukrtransgaz accept applications for gas transmission only from companies licensed by NEURC. As of July 14, some 276 companies had such licenses.

Engie is a French multinational company, which operates in the fields of electricity generation and distribution, natural gas, nuclear and renewable energy. The company is a component of the Euro Stoxx 50 stock market index.
