Ukraine in talks with 22 countries on exports of animal products

Ukraine is in talks with 22 countries on shipments of animal products onto their markets, according to the press service of Ukraine's State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Protection.

"The State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Protection is conducting negotiations with 22 countries regarding the export of Ukrainian products of animal origin to foreign markets," it said.

Sixty-one Ukrainian enterprises have already been licensed in 2017 to export animal products, which has raised the number of licensed agricultural producers in Ukraine to 728 entities, the press service said.

In particular, the number of Ukrainian enterprises that have been authorized to export food products of animal origin increased to 728," it said.

Ukrainian producers in 2016-2017 launched and resumed exports to the EU markets (dairy products), China (dairy products, beef), Israel (shell eggs, pet food), the United Arab Emirates (poultry and products made of it, as well beef, mutton and products made of it), the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (poultry and products made of it), Egypt (beef), Hong Kong (shell eggs), Montenegro (poultry, honey), Serbia (poultry), Bosnia and Herzegovina (poultry), Lebanon and Tanzania (poultry and products made of it).

Some 281 Ukrainian enterprises have licenses to export their produce onto the European market alone. Of them, 100 produce foods.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine's Agrarian Industry and Food Ministry said that farm produce exports from Ukraine grew by 4.5% in 2016 from 2015, to US$15.5 billion, accounting for 42.5% of total Ukrainian exports.
