Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has signed off the law on commercial accounting of thermal energy and water supply, which determines the legal, economic and organizational basis for providing commercial, including distributional, accounting of thermal energy, hot water and centralized water supplies, according to the presidential press service.
In particular, the law introduces mandatory heat and water accounting, which will enable households to pay only for resources consumed. Moreover, the regulation will make possible monitoring the implementation of energy efficiency measures, as well as lead to the reduction in utility costs for consumers.
The law also specifies the procedure for equipping apartment blocks and other premises with meters, as well as their maintenance, replacement and subscriber accounting.
"The implementation of the law will make it possible to increase the efficiency of central heating and water supplies, create incentives for rational use of water and energy resources. It will also promote the establishment of mutually beneficial relations between consumers and business entities that provide related services," the press service said.
