Almost 80 new renewable energy facilities built in Ukraine in six months

Some 79 new renewable energy facilities with a total capacity of 182.7 MW were built in Ukraine in the past six months, according to the Ecotown news portal on alternative energy.

In particular, 67 new solar power plants were built in the period under review, according to an analytical report by IB Centre, Ecotown reported.

The capacity of small hydropower plants and biogas power generation facilities in the first half of the year increased by 2 MW, to 120 MW and to 33 MW, respectively.

In the six months of 2017, investment in renewable energy projects exceeded EUR 210 million.

Ukrainian and foreign developers are to implement more than 70 new investment projects in the field of renewable energy with a total installed capacity of more than 430 MW in Ukraine by the end of 2017, IB Center said.

Thus, by the end of 2017, the total capacity of renewable energy facilities in Ukraine can reach 1.9 GW, which is more than 4.3% of the country's total energy balance.
