Ukrtransgaz: Gas stocks grow to 13 bcm of planned 17 bcm

Natural gas stocks in Ukraine's underground storage facilities grew by 3.1%, or 394 million cubic meters (mcm), from July 22 to July 29, to 13.069 billion cubic meters (bcm) from 12.675 bcm, according to the gas transport system's operator, Ukrtransgaz.

As of July 29, the company pumped about 57.84 mcm of gas into the underground storage facilities on a daily basis.

In preparation for the 2016-2017 heating season, the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry also insisted on the need to accumulate 17 bcm of gas, while the management of the national oil and gas holding Naftogaz of Ukraine assured that 14.5 bcm would be enough.

As a result, Ukraine began the 2016-2017 heating season with gas reserves at 14.7 bcm, completing it with 8.4 bcm.
