Ukrainians owe US$333 mln for hot water in June – statistics

Ukrainian households' debts for centralized heating and hot water supplies fell by 3.5% in June 2017 from May 2017, to UAH 8.6 billion, or US$333 million, according to Ukraine's State Statistics Service.

Debts for the maintenance of houses, facilities and adjacent areas over the period under review grew by 3.3%, to UAH 3 billion ($116 million), while debts for household waste removal almost did not change from the previous month, amounting to UAH 400 million ($15.5 million), the report said.

The arrears for centralized water supplies and sewage services rose by 14.3%, to UAH 2.1 billion ($81 million).

At the same time, arrears for electricity as of the end of June were estimated at UAH 3.8 billion ($147 million), whereas debts for gas supplies fell by 0.9% in June, to UAH 11.3 billion ($337 million).

In total, the households paid UAH 3.9 billion ($151 million) for housing and utilities services in June 2017, which accounted for 102.1% of the amounts charged for the period under review.

The highest level of payments was recorded in Dnipropetrovsk, Kyiv and Odesa regions (128.4%, 125.5% and 124.6%, respectively), whereas the lowest one was in Donetsk, Khmelnytsky and Ternopil regions (65%, 67.1% and 69%, respectively).

Some 28,800 agreements were concluded with households in January-June 2017 to restructure UAH 143.5 million ($5.6 million) in debts.

As UNIAN reported earlier, households' arrears for centralized heating and hot water supplies rose by 3.4% in May 2017, to UAH 8.9 billion ($344 million) against April 2017.
