Poroshenko enacts law on extending raised export duty on scrap metal

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has signed law No. 6382 on prolonging for another year the effect of the increased export duty on scrap of ferrous metals, adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on July 13, 2017, with president's amendments, according to the parliament's website.

"The law on amendments to section II 'Final and Transitional Provisions' of the law on amendments to some laws of Ukraine concerning reduction of the deficit of ferrous scrap in the domestic market was returned [to the parliament] signed by the President on August 1," the report said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on July 13, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine supported the amendment, submitted by Ukrainian president, to a bill, extending for a year the effect of the increased export duty on scrap of ferrous metals, instead of two years, proposed by the ministers.

Bill No. 6382 was backed by 247 MPs with the required minimum at 226 votes.
