Price hike in Ukraine speeds up to almost 16 % in July

Inflation in Ukraine in July 2017 slowed down to 0.2% compared to June 2017 against 1.6% in June 2017 from May 2017, according to Ukrainian State Statistics Service's website.

The country's inflation in July 2017 accelerated to 15.9% year-over-year (y-o-y) from 15.6% recorded in June 2017 y-o-y, the report said.

Since the beginning of the year, consumer prices in Ukraine have grown by 8.2%

The highest price increase in July 2017, in annual terms, was recorded for hot water and heating – by 74.8%, electricity – by 63.7%, vegetables – by 59.9%, and water supply – by 41.2%.

Prices rose most of all in July 2017 against June 2017 for maintenance of households and adjacent areas – by 8.5% and for railway transportation services – by 6.8%.

The State Statistics Service said that the data excluded reports from temporarily occupied areas in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the city of Sevastopol, and Donbas.

The National Bank of Ukraine forecasts a 9.1% slowdown in inflation this year, while the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank project its 10% decline.
