Trade balance deficit in Ukraine reaches almost $100 mln over 6 months

The foreign trade balance of Ukraine in January-June 2017 recorded a deficit of $98.6 million against $950.8 million of surplus for the same period last year, the State Statistics Service of Ukraine reports.

Imports of goods and services to Ukraine in the first half of 2017 amounted to $25.061 billion, while the country exported goods and services worth $24.962 billion, according to the report.

The data are provided without taking into account the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol, as well as part of the zone of the Anti-Terrorist Operation in eastern Ukraine.

In 2016, the foreign trade balance of Ukraine saw a surplus of $337.3 million, which was 11 times lower than the surplus for 2015 at $3.828 billion.
