Ukraine's exports of sunflower seeds in 2016/2017 marketing year (MY, September 2016 – August 2017) grew to 187,800 tonnes, which was a record high over the last five seasons, according to the UkrAgroConsult agency's press service.
Ukraine exported 5,400 tonnes of sunflower seeds in June 2017 alone, which was 5.3% down from May 2017, the agency said.
"In the current season of 2016/2017, Ukraine has already exported sunflower seeds to 59 countries. However, the European countries remain the leaders of oilseeds exports, which share is 68%. Turkey, as expected, continues to increase sunflower imports from Ukraine. Its procurement exceeded 43,000 tonnes of the product this season (23% of total exports) against 16,100 tonnes last season," the report says.

Ukraine is the world's largest exporter of sunflower oil. The country's enterprises exported 4.8 million tonnes of sunflower oil in 2016, which was a record high and 23% up against 2015.
