Ukraine's car imports double in H1

Imports of passenger cars to Ukraine almost doubled in the first half of 2017 (H1) year-over-year (y-o-y), to 67,900 units, according to the Ukrautoprom Association's press service.

Car imports in the six months of 2017 were estimated at US$959.5 million, while the average price of an imported car decreased by over $3,200, to $14,100, the association said.

"An increase in the share of used cars has lowered the average customs value of an imported car. If the used cars accounted for only a fifth of imports in the first six months of 2016, their share exceeded 41% this year," the press service said.

Japan became the second supplier as it shipped 8,200 passenger cars to Ukraine.

France ranked 3rd among the major suppliers with 6,400 cars imported to Ukraine.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine saw an 80% rise in imports of passenger cars in the first quarter of 2017 y-o-y, to 28,900 units, according to Ukrautoprom.
