Poroshenko to cut ribbon to launch cable production in Lviv region for BMW

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko is expected to visit Lviv region on August 30 where he will participate in an official event to cut a ribbon to launch a new plant in Brody to produce automotive cables for BMW cars.

"On August 30, there will be the official launch of the Brody production division of Elektrokontakt Ukraine LLC with the participation of President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko," the company said on its website.

UNIAN memo. Elektrokontakt Ukraine LLC is a subsidiary of Germany's Elektrokontakt GmbH owned by French-based Nexans S.A., which produces cables and cabling systems.

In 2008, it launched the production of cable systems for BMW cars. In 2011, the production extended to the town of Zlochiv in Lviv region, where cables are produced at a former radio plant. It supplies produce to BMW, Opel, and Mercedes.

In 2017, Elektrokontakt Ukraine LLC is to mark its 10th anniversary. During this period, its clientele expanded from one customer to all four world-known car concerns, BMW, Daimler, General Motors, and Volkswagen.

The company's new milestone this year is its third plant in Brody.
