Groysman wants to boost annual trade with Lithuania to $1 bln

Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman sees prospects for boosting trade with Lithuania to $1 billion per year, according to an UNIAN correspondent.

"I would like to note that our bilateral trade level is quite high, and we would like to set the task to reach $1 billion in annual trade between our countries, which is absolutely possible," the Ukrainian prime minister said at a meeting with Speaker of the Lithuanian Seimas Viktoras Pranckietis in Kyiv on August 31.

He added that he has very good relations with his Lithuanian counterpart Saulius Skvernelis, who is also a member of the Seimas, which "is the key to deepening our cooperation in many areas."

"[This is] starting from political cooperation, cooperation in the international arena, cooperation within the European Union, and in the economic sphere," Groysman said.

Lithuania is Ukraine's largest trading partner among the Baltic countries. The State Statistics Committee of Ukraine reported that trade in goods and services between Ukraine and Lithuania in the first half of 2017 amounted to $460.6 million, which was 53.1%, or $ 159.9 million, more than in the same period last year.  Exports of Ukrainian goods to Lithuania grew by 63.2%, to $205.5 million, while imports increased by 45.9%, to $255.1 million.
