Ukraine threshes almost 38 mln tonnes of grain

Ukrainian farmers had harvested grain and leguminous crops from 9.8 million hectares as of September 5 (67% of the plan), having threshed 37.6 million tonnes of grain, according to the Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry.

In particular, the harvesting campaign to gather early grain and leguminous crops from 9.7 million hectares is over: 37.3 million tonnes of grain was threshed with an average yield of 3.86 tonnes per hectare.

Some 73,000 tonnes of buckwheat had been harvested from 65,000 hectares (36%) as of September 5. The yield of millet was 46,000 tonnes (from 31,000 hectares), that of maize was 54,000 tonnes (15,000 hectares).

Ukrainian agricultural producers continue harvesting sunflower, having threshed 459,000 tonnes of sunflower seeds from 286,000 hectares (5% of the forecast).

Agrarians also gathered 82,000 tonnes of soybeans from 50,000 hectares and 162,000 tonnes of sugar beet from 3,000 hectares.
