Ukraine ready for heating season by almost 96% - minister

Ukrainian Minister for Regional Development, Construction, and Housing, Deputy Prime Minister Hennady Zubko has said the readiness of the housing and communal services of Ukraine for the heating season of 2017/2018 is 95.6%.

"The general state of Ukraine's readiness is 95.6% as of September 6," Zubko told a government meeting Wednesday, adding that all regions should be fully ready for the heating season by September 15.

As UNIAN reported earlier, natural gas reserves in Ukraine's underground gas storages (USFs) from August 26 to September 2 increased by 2.5%, or by 371 million cubic meters, from 14,578 billion cubic meters to 14.949 bcm.

Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Minister Ihor Nasalyk announced plans to accumulate 17 bcm of gas in USFs by October 1, 2017, to pass the 2017-2018 heating season.

As a result, Ukraine began the 2016-2017 heating season with gas reserves at 14.7 bcm, completing it with 8.4 bcm.
