Naftogaz: Four global giants show interest in management of Ukraine's gas transport system

CEO of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine Andriy Kobolev says that four big international companies that operate respective gas transmission systems show interest in the management of Ukraine's gas transport system (GTS).

"Our GTS should be pragmatically interesting. We have four companies that are interested. These are four large international companies. Two of them are in the category of the biggest ones. They are owners and operators of large [gas transmission] systems in Europe. It is strategically interesting for them and potentially interesting from the financial point of view," he said on a national TV channel.

At the same time, he said, the European companies are now considering two proposals: the Ukrainian and Russian ones.

"They are choosing between the options. Gazprom has its offer, and we have ours. Gazprom's proposal is very interesting: Nord Stream 2 is an interesting project in terms of financial indicators. Gazprom offers 50%, guarantees, money. We need to be no less interesting. This is competition, this is the market," Kobolev added.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Naftogaz spoke out for inviting a European partner in the management of the Ukrainian gas transport system so that European companies could buy gas on Ukraine's eastern border and ship it onto the European market, thus transit shipments of gas will continue after the current gas transit contract between Ukraine and Russia's Gazprom expires.
