Retail trade in Ukraine grew by 8.7% in January-August 2017 year-over-year (y-o-y) in comparable prices to UAH 507.918 billion, or US$19.4 billion, according to the Ukrainian State Statistics Service's website.
The agency has not provided statistics in monetary terms before.
At the same time, last year the agency reported that in January-August 2016 retail turnover amounted to UAH 731.6 billion ($28 billion), which was UAH 226 billion ($8.6 billion) up against 2017.

Retail turnover over the period under review increased most in Zakarpattia region (by 23.3%, to UAH 11.6 billion), Vinnytsia region (by 18.1%, to UAH 13 billion), Odesa region (by 13.5%, to UAH 39.5 billion), Lviv region (by 11.8%, to UAH 31.95 billion), Mykolaiv region (by 11.3%, to UAH 11.87 billion), and Sumy region (by 10.3%, to UAH 10.12 billion).

Retail trade in August 2017 alone rose by 9.8% y-o-y.
Turnover of enterprises involved in retail trade in January-August 2017 was estimated at UAH 365.4 billion, or $14 billion, which was 8.5% up y-o-y.

In 2016, retail trade in Ukraine rose by 3.7% from 2015 (in comparable prices), to UAH 1.159 trillion, or $44.4 billion, according to the State Statistics Service.
