Petrol, diesel fuel prices grow by UAH 1.5 last month

The retail price of petrol and diesel fuel in most gas station chains across Ukraine increased by UAH 1.5 per liter in September 2017, Oleksandr Sirenko, an analyst at UPECO, the consulting company specializing in energy markets, told UNIAN.

"The growth of retail prices for petrol was 5.8-7.1% in September, as well as 7.8% for diesel fuel. For example, the whole fuel line went up by 1.5 UAH per liter in OKKO, WOG, SOCAR filling station chains," he said.

He also reported on the increase in prices in other major gas station chains and at stations of regional operators.

"As a result, the average cost of fuel at Ukrainian filling stations increased by UAH 1.50-1.69 per liter and amounted to UAH 25.38 per liter of A-92 petrol, UAH 26.14 per liter of A-95, UAH 27.20 UAH per liter of A-95 'Premium' and UAH 23.45 per liter of diesel fuel," the expert said.

The fuel rose by another UAH 0.1-1.5 per liter on September 26. As a result, the price of A-92 petrol in some networks reached UAH 26.99 per liter, that of A-95 gasoline was UAH 27.99 and diesel fuel was UAH 24.99.

According to Sirenko, the prices grew due to an increase in prices of fuel on the European market whose indicators are applicable to the Ukrainian market.

On September 26, the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (ACU) requested the necessary information from the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry and started to independently probe into the situation on the market of light oil products in order to find out the causes behind petrol and diesel fuel price hikes at many filling stations, according to ACU Head Yuriy Terentyev.
