Rada unblocks signing of pension reform

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has rejected a draft resolution on the abolition of parliament's decision to adopt Bill "On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine Regarding Increasing Pensions" as a whole, according to an UNIAN correspondent.

Only 14 MPs out of 232 registered in the session hall voted for the motion.

Its author, MP Yuriy Levchenko said that pension reform had passed Parliament "with gross violations of Constitutional requirements and those of Rada's Regulations on the legislative procedure."

As UNIAN reported earlier, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on October 3 passed a bill on pension reform, which introduced requirements for the minimum pension insurance record for retirement and provided for an increase in retirement benefits to be paid to 9 million pensioners in the amount of UAH 200 to UAH 1,000 each per month starting from October.
