Hryvnia gets stronger against dollar, euro before weekends

On Friday, October 6, the exchange rate of the hryvnia against the U.S. dollar on the interbank forex market was UAH 26.65/26.68 per U.S. dollar by the end of trading, according to a dealer of a commercial bank.

The exchange rate of the hryvnia against the euro was UAH 31.15/31.19 per euro, that against the Russian ruble was UAH 0.4582/0.4593 per ruble, the dealer told UNIAN.

The National Bank of Ukraine said that the weighted average forex exchange rate on the interbank market as of 16:00 on Friday was set at UAH 26.7399 per U.S. dollar. By that time, 630 deals had been concluded to the tune of US$414.92 million.

As of the middle of trading on Friday, quotations of the hryvnia to the U.S. dollar on the interbank forex market stood at UAH 26.71/26.74 per U.S. dollar. Hryvnia quotations against the euro were UAH 31.24/31.27 per euro, those against the Russian ruble were UAH 0.44618/0.4692 per ruble.

The National Bank of Ukraine has set the official forex rate for the next banking day, October 9, at UAH 2,673.9931 per U.S.$100 (UAH 2,679.9684 as of October 6), at UAH 3,130.4437 per EUR 100 (UAH 3,146.8189 as of October 6), and UAH 4.6294 per RUR 10 (UAH 4.6543 as of October 6).

Ukraine's national budget for 2017 is based on the average annual forex rate of the hryvnia against the U.S. dollar set at about UAH 27.

The weakest Ukrainian hryvnia against the U.S. dollar was recorded in February 2015, when the rate hit UAH 30.01 UAH per U.S. dollar.
