Ukraine almost doubles oilseed exports since July 1

Ukrainian agribusinesses have exported 1.6 million tonnes of oilseeds since the start of the 2017-2018 marketing year (MY, July 2017 – June 2018), which was almost 1.9 times up year-over-year (y-o-y), according to the Ukrainian State Food Safety and Consumer Protection Service.

"In the current marketing year, more than 1.6 million tonnes of oilseeds has been exported as of October 11, including over 1.46 million tonnes of rapeseed and over 150,000 tonnes of soybeans," the report said.

Noteworthy, a total of 900,000 tonnes of oilseeds was shipped abroad over the same period in the 2016-2017 MY, including almost 640,000 tonnes of rapeseed and over 270,000 tonnes of soybeans, the agency's the press service said.

Ukraine exported agricultural products worth US$11.5 billion in the first eight months of 2017, which was 24.5% up y-o-y.

The major staples became sunflower, safflower, and cottonseed oils with a share of 26.25% of the total agricultural exports, as well as maize (20.34%), wheat and wheat blend (12.87%), poultry (2.29%) and others.
