Ukraine's energy system has been modernized during the inter-heating period and today it is fully ready for the 2017-2018 autumn-winter period, Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman said at a government meeting.
"Today the entire energy supply system is fully ready for the autumn-winter period. We have been modernizing the system despite certain forces hindering our efforts. We are also developing our nuclear power, which we believe has great prospects," the prime minister said.
As UNIAN reported, the heating season officially began in Ukraine on October 15.
On October 9, Ukrainian Minister for Regional Development, Construction, and Housing and Deputy Prime Minister Hennady Zubko said Ukraine was fully ready for the 2017-2018 heating season. In addition, natural gas reserves in Ukrainian underground storage facilities (USFs) on October 8-15 rose by 1.2%, or 188 million cubic meters, from 16.612 billion cubic meters to 16.8 bcm.
