Industrial output in Ukraine drops 0.3% following August growth

Ukraine's industrial output in September 2017 fell by 0.3% in annual terms, without taking into account the adjustment for the calendar days effect, after rising 1.2% a month earlier, according to the State Statistics Service.

Taking into account the calendar days effect adjustment, the fall in industrial output in September was 0.1% in annual terms following a 1.7% growth in August 2017, the report says.

The agency says, in comparison with the previous month, the industrial output in September grew by 2.5% without seasonal adjustment but fell by 0.4% taking such adjustment into account.

The report notes that the largest increase in industrial output in September 2017 compared to September 2016 was recorded in the chemical industry (33.4%), manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semitrailers (22.8%).

The agency recalls that the data exclude the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol, as well as part of the zone of the Anti-Terrorist Operation.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the industrial output in August 2017 increased by 1.2% in annual terms, without the adjustment for a calendar days effect, and by 1.7% with such adjustment.

The rise of industrial output in Ukraine in 2016 compared to 2015 was at 2.4% following a continued decline for four consecutive years (2012-2015).
