Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko says Ukraine is only taking the first steps after the severe economic crisis caused by war in Donbas, according to an UNIAN correspondent.

"Of course, it would be much cooler to build a cosmodrome for intergalactic flights than a packing factory. But we have been taking the first steps after the severe economic crisis caused by the war," the president said at a meeting of the Regional Development Council in Kyiv on October 24.

Poroshenko also reported he had already made 133 working trips to the regions during his presidency.

"Trips in past months were more pleasure than business. Not only roads and bridges are built or rebuilt, but also hospitals, schools, and other facilities of social infrastructure open, are repaired or re-equipped... Modern administrative service centers become available. Factories and production facilities are launched. And even here and there theaters hospitably open the doors for admirers of beauty," the president said.

As the saying goes: 'If the [Ukrainian] trident had appeared on the Kremlin, they would have said it was not straight enough.' They also find causes for being unhappy, saying that roads aren't straight enough, bridges aren't long enough, theaters do not fit in the historical landscape, repairs block traffic, factories produce wrong goods, and even borsch [Ukrainian national soup] has a wrong recipe," he added.

He noted that the authorities were being criticized for "ribbon-cutting at minor, local facilities."

As UNIAN reported, Ukrainian President announced on October 24 that the war in Donbas was still far from being over.
