Energoatom boosts revenue from electricity sales by over 17% in nine months

State-run enterprise Energoatom, the operator of Ukrainian-based nuclear power plants, increased its revenue from electricity sales by 17.1% in January-September 2017, to UAH 34.571 billion, or US$1.3 billion, according to the company's report.

Payments of the wholesale electricity market for energy supplied by Energoatom in the nine months of 2017 amounted to UAH 32.07 billion (92.8%), or $1.2 billion, while debts on electricity bills were estimated at UAH 2.5 billion, or $93.4 million.

The debt of the state-owned enterprise Energorynok, the operator of Ukraine's wholesale electricity market, before Energoatom totaled UAH 12.407 billion, or $463 million, taking into account the electricity sold in previous periods, the report said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Energoatom reduced its net profit by 97.8% in 2016, to UAH 187 million, or $7 million.

UNIAN memo. Energoatom is Ukraine's largest electricity producer, accounting for about 50% of the country's overall power output. Energoatom is responsible for the safe operation of the country's nuclear power plants.

Ukraine ranks seventh globally in terms of the installed capacity of its nuclear power generating units. Energoatom operates four nuclear power plants across Ukraine with a total of 15 power generating units, all with VVER-type reactors. Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, operating six power units with a total capacity of 6 GW, is Europe's largest.
