Fuel prices keep ascending in Ukraine amid deficit

Ukraine's gasoline imports from Belarus shrank by 91% in October, which led to a shortage of fuel and triggered a rise in prices at the country's filling stations, according to enkorr.

"The consumption of A-92 gasoline in Ukraine is estimated at 80,000-85,000 tonnes per month, including 40,000-45,000 tonnes of imported fuel. The gasoline is mainly supplied from Belarus," enkorr reports.

Supplies of A-95 gasoline reduced in October as well: 10,500 tonnes against the average monthly 40,000 tonnes.

A sharp decrease in supplies is due to scheduled repairs at Mozyr Oil Refinery. It is one of Belarus' largest oil refineries that exports fuel to Ukraine. In addition, the terms of most contracts with Ukrainian companies expired in September, according to the report.

"It's difficult to find A-92 gasoline. There is a shortage. We have to turn to sources that we did not use before," an employee of one of the companies said.

"The shortage of Belarusian supplies, as well as the world price hike, will keep price tension in Ukraine during November, while prices will grow at filling stations," CEO of Consulting Group A-95 Serhiy Kuyun said.
