Russia blocks cryptocurrency-related websites

Similar information has been removed from another 11 websites. The agency noted that most of these sites are located in the .com domain zone.

"Restricting access to such Internet resources is carried out based on valid court decisions. Pre-trial blocking of such sites is not provided for by Russian law. At the moment, Roskomnadzor has processed 22 such court decisions. On their basis, 24 websites (or pages of websites) were added to the Unified Register. Of these, with respect to 13 websites (or pages of websites), information was sent to telecom operators to restrict access to them in the territory of the Russian Federation. The prohibited information was deleted from other internet resources, which were then excluded from the Unified Register of Prohibited Information," Roskomnadzor said.

The Prosecutor General's Office of Russia said that they had recorded an increase in interest in crypto-currencies as a tool for legalizing proceeds from crime.
