The National Anti-corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) is currently investigating 49 corruption cases at state-owned enterprises (SOEs), which involves UAH 20 billion, or US$745 million, according to the Economic Development and Trade Ministry's Twitter account, referring to Deputy Minister Maksym Nefyodov.
"NABU alone is now probing into 49 corruption-related cases involving UAH 20 billion at state enterprises," Nefyodov said.
According to the official, given the population of 42 million people, the Ukrainian government manages 3,444 SOEs, while the government of China whose population is 1.4 billion people handles only 102 SOEs.

Ukrainian Prime Minister has recently announced that Ukraine's losses at state-run enterprises in the past decade are estimated at UAH 82 billion, or over US$3 billion. The government plans to launch large-scale privatization in Ukraine after the adoption of a new privatization law, which will unlock the sale of about 1,000 out of 3,500 state-owned assets.
