Tusk sent a respective letter to the leaders of the EU member states, Rzeczpospolita reported, citing PAP and its source in the EU.

Not all leaders have received this letter yet, therefore it has not been published; it contains a message that the EU countries should address as soon as possible the issue of amending the gas directive proposed by the European Commission a few days ago.

Until now, the EU directives have had no direct explanation of how to handle segments within international waters.  This was the source of different interpretations and allowed Nord Stream 2.

As previously reported, the European Commission wants the new rules to be introduced before the end of 2018 – early enough to apply them to the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, which should be completed by the end of next year.

It must be noted that the Parliament of Denmark has already begun to discuss a new law proposed by the government, which will enable the blocking of Nord Stream 2.
