The price of the first shipment of the U.S thermal coal, supplied by Xcoal Energy&Resources to Ukraine's major power generating company PJSC Centrenergo, is $100.7 per tonne (CIF), according to Liga.net, referring to a Centrenergo representative.
The first batch of 61,700 tonnes was supplied in September under a contract providing for the delivery of 700,000 tonnes of coal before the end of the year, Liga.net wrote.
The calorific value of that September coal consignment was nearly 5,500 kcal/kg. In terms of the basic caloric value (6,000 kcal/tonne), the cost of coal will increase from $100.7 to $110.8 per tonne (without the cost of transshipment in a seaport and delivery to a thermal power plant).
For example, in September, DTEK imported about 77,000 tonnes of thermal coal (supplied by Glencore) from South Africa at $90.3 per tonne with a caloric value of 5,300 kcal/kg, or $102 per tonne on conversion to basic calorie content, including freight.
