Ukraine shows great trade openness among WTO members – economy ministry

Ukraine is most open in trade among World Trade Organization (WTO) members, according to the Economic Development and Trade Ministry's press service.

"Ukraine has made a significant contribution to the liberalization of trade within the WTO, as the level of its trade openness is one of the highest among all WTO members," it said.

At the same time, the ministry noted that Ukraine would further promote the formation of transparent and predictable rules for international trade.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine's exports of goods grew by 21.1% in January-August 2017, year-over-year (y-o-y), to $27.512 billion, while imports soared by 27.4%, to $30.791 billion.

UNIAN memo. The World Trade Organization is the only global intergovernmental organization that regulates international trade. The mission of the organization is to ensure the maximum ease, predictability and openness of international trade. Ukraine became the 152nd WTO member on May 16, 2008.

The plenary sessions within the 11th WTO Ministerial Conference began in Argentina's Buenos Aires on December 11. First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, Minister of Economic Development and Trade Stepan Kubiv, as well as Ukraine's Trade Representative Nataliya Mykolska are leading the Ukrainian delegation.
