Ukraine’s central bank suggests when Kyiv may get next IMF tranche

The National Bank of Ukraine expects to receive the next tranche of the International Monetary Fund loan in the second quarter of 2018, acting NBU Governor Yakov Smolii told reporters Thursday.

"Mission’s arrival could be in late January, program review – in February-March. The tranche is possible in the second quarter," Smolii said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, in March 2015, the IMF approved a four-year lending program for the Ukrainian economy, the Extended Fund Facility, worth US$7.5 billion.

The allocation of the next tranche was expected in September. However, Ukraine has not fulfilled the mandatory conditions for the program revision, including the adoption of laws on pension reform and privatization, as well as on the anti-corruption court.
