Private energy company ERU Trading has for the first time imported natural gas from the U.S. to Ukraine via Polish LNG (liquified natural gas) terminal and placed it in the underground storage facilities (USFs), according to the company's press service.
A tanker-gas carrier delivered the cargo from the U.S. to an LNG terminal in the port of the Polish city of Swinoujscie and then forwarded it to Ukraine through the Polish gas transport system (GTS).
Earlier this summer, ERUs Polish supply partner purchased a delivery to Poland’s first LNG facility and arranged the transportation of the gas by pipeline to the Polish-Ukrainian interconnector.
ERU Trading bought gas at the border and placed it in a Ukrainian storage facility, the report says.
According to the company, such deals are insured by the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), which has signed a twenty-year contract with ERA Trading.
