Unemployment rate in Ukraine grows by 9.6% in Nov

The number of the unemployed in Ukraine increased by 9.6%, or by 27,100 people, in November 2017 from October 2017, to 309,000 people, according to the Ukrainian State Statistics Service.

The unemployed registered with the State Employment Service accounted for 1.2% of the working age population, it said.

In November, the number of the unemployed among the urban population was 179,000 people and those among rural population were 170,000 people. Unemployed women accounted for 57.5% (177,600 people) in November 2017, whereas the share of unemployed men was 42.5% (131,400 people).

Some 6.5% of the registered unemployed (23,700 people) found jobs in November against 13.1% (47,200 people) a month earlier.

There were five applicants per job opening in November 2017. This indicator was also five people per vacancy from March to July 2017, then it declined to four people in August and September 2017.

The data did not include reports from temporarily occupied areas in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the city of Sevastopol, as well as the Anti-Terrorist Operation zone in the east of Ukraine.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the number of the unemployed in Ukraine was 390,800 people in 2016, which accounted for 1.5% of the country's working age population, according to the State Statistics Service.
