Hryvnia on interbank market loses 5% in value against U.S. dollar over year – NBU

Ukraine's hryvnia weakened by 5% against the U.S. dollar, as the average weighed forex rate of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) on the last day of interbank trade in 2017 was UAH 28.0672 per U.S. dollar against UAH 26.6924 per U.S. dollar on the first day of the same year.

Meanwhile, quotations at which the euro was sold in the interbank forex market were the following: the hryvnia weakened by 21% against the euro over the year, to UAH 33.5830, a dealer from a commercial bank told UNIAN.

As UNIAN reported, the national budget for 2018 is based on the average annual forex rate of the hryvnia against the U.S. dollar set at UAH 29.3 per dollar and UAH 30.10 per dollar by the end of 2018.

Ukraine saw a record high rate of the hryvnia against the U.S. dollar in February 2015 when it was UAH 30.01.
