Minimum wage in Ukraine grows from Jan 1, to $133 per month

The minimum wage in Ukraine has grown by UAH 523 (US$19), to UAH 3,723 ($133) per month as of January 1, 2018, according to the national budget for 2018.

"The minimum monthly wage shall be set at UAH 3,723 as of January 1, 2018, with pay per hour set at UAH 22.41 ($0.8)," it said.

Read alsoUkraine's average salary up by 0.4% in NovThe document also stipulates the following living wage used to calculate benefits under the law of Ukraine on state social assistance to low-income families in relation to the subsistence minimum for the main social and demographic groups of the population: 21% for able-bodied people, 85% for children, and 100% for persons who have lost their ability to work and for the disabled.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko on December 4 initiated an increase in the minimum wage in 2018 from 3,200 ($114) to UAH 4,100 ($146).

The minimum wage in Ukraine was doubled to UAH 3,200 from January 1, 2017. The fine for illegal payment of "envelope wages" was set at 100 sums of the minimum wage.

First Deputy Prime Minister Stepan Kubiv earlier reported that the expected minimum wage would be UAH 3,723 from January 1, 2018, UAH 4,173 ($149) in 2019, and UAH 4,425 ($158) in 2020.
