Ukrainians buy 82,300 new cars in 2017

Sales of new passenger cars in Ukraine grew by 25% in 2017 from 2016, to 82,300 vehicles, according to the Ukrautoprom Association's press service.

The country's new passenger car market was showing positive dynamics during last year, it said.

Over the nine months of 2017, the Japanese brand Toyota retained the leading position in the new passenger car market, which once again showed a high sales rate for the year. Owners of new Toyota new cars received 9,696 license plates in 2017, which was 26% up against 2016.

Renault ranked second in terms of sales. The French brand topped the rating three times last year: in February, March, and December. At total of 8,671 new cars of this brand were registered in 2017, which was 36% more than in 2016.

The Volkswagen brand ranked third with 6,525 cars registered, which was 30% up against 2016.

Some 9,179 new cars were registered in Ukraine in December 2017 alone, which was 21% up y-o-y. So, the new car market showed the highest result in December 2017.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the country's sales of new passenger cars in 2016 grew by 41% from 2015, to 65,500 units.
