Ukraine’s Energy Ministry gives forecast on electricity exports in 2018

The Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine forecasts this year’s exports of electricity from Ukraine at 5.85 billion kWh, according to the forecasted electricity balance for 2018, published on the ministry website.

According to the report, it is assumed that Ukraine will export 4.8 billion kWh to the countries of Eastern Europe, including 1.2 billion kWh to Poland. Supplies from the so-called "Burshtyn TPP Island" (Burshtyn TPP, which is part of DTEK's private power holding, which is beyond Ukraine’s United Energy Grid) are expected to be at 3.6 billion kWh.

In addition, it is planned to sell 1.055 billion kWh to Moldova.

According to the ministry, electricity imports to Ukraine in 2018 are not envisaged at all.

Some 54.9% of electricity was exported to Hungary, which amounted to about 2.6 billion kWh. Another 1 billion kWh (22.9%) was exported to Moldova and 0.780 billion kWh (16.6%) to Poland. Slovakia received 0.148 billion kWh (3.1%).
