"Speaking about the hryvnia forex rate, it is better to rely on data from the IMF with strong experts who give forecasts for a large number of foreign currencies in different countries. Their forecast [for Ukraine] from 2018 to 2020 says that the hryvnia exchange rate will fluctuate around UAH 27-27.5 to the U.S. dollar," the expert told Apostrophe.

"If prices of the commodity remain unchanged or grow a little, the amount of currency entering Ukraine will increase, and then there will be no threat to the hryvnia, especially if we adopt a law on large-scale privatization and the sale of assets begins. Thus, there will be additional funds in foreign currency, which will be funneled into the national budget," Kushniruk said.

Quotations of the hryvnia against the U.S. dollar on the interbank forex market were set at UAH 28.02/28.05 to the U.S. dollar by the middle of trading on Thursday, January 4.
